Symfony workshop

On a regular basis, Ibuildings employees give internal presentations or workshops to share knowledge or present something they are enthusiastic about. Yesterday evening I was able to give a presentation to quite a nice group of my colleagues about the symfony framework. The evening was split up in two parts.

The first part was approximately an hour, in which I presented a non-technical overview of what symfony is. In the second part, I gave a short theoretical introduction into symfony from a more technical standpoint, after which those present actually got to work with symfony a bit.

Provincie Zeeland: Beste Provinciale Website 2007



In juni van dit jaar heeft Almer Kaasschieter al aangegeven waarom het loont om te bouwen volgens webstandaarden en dat Ibuildings dit consequent heeft toegepast in de website van de Provincie Zeeland. Onlangs is bekend geworden dat de gezamenlijke inspanningen van Ibuildings en de Provincie Zeeland hebben geleid tot de mooie titel: "Beste Overheidswebsite 2007" in de categorie "Provinciale Websites"!

Trying to grow the PHP market

Sometimes recruiting efforts yield very nice results.

As of this week, Mikko Koppanen works in our UK team. Mikko is known from his Imagick extension, a wrapper to use ImageMagick in PHP.

The nice thing about this is that now we finally have someone on board who knows how to write PHP extensions. :-)

Ibuildings International!

After building a solid company here in the Netherlands for the past 8 years, we are now ready to take the company to the next level: Ibuildings has now become Ibuildings International, with main offices in the Netherlands and United Kingdom.

Our mission is to deliver PHP Software Services and Products for the enterprise market in Europe. By expanding to the UK we will be able to deliver to UK companies the PHP expertise we've build here in the Netherlands.

We will focus on delivering the right mix of software tools, methods, experience and knowledge to more and more companies that are investing in PHP technology for their business critical systems. It's an exiting time for all of us both witnessing the HUGE growth of PHP usage in small, medium and very large companies around Europe, and to be part of that growing business community.

Next week I'll be attending the Zend/PHP Conference in San Francisco to learn how PHP is growing worldwide, and I look forward to sharing the highlights on this blog!

Van een grote groep ontwikkelaars naar eigen ontwikkelteams

Ibuildings wordt groter: de uit te voeren opdrachten zijn omvangrijker en ook het aantal medewerkers groeit elke maand. Voor mij, als projectmanager en teamleider, betekent dit dat ook mijn team steeds groter wordt. Terwijl ik me afvraag of we met deze steeds verder doorzettende stijging niet uit het pand groeien, probeer ik me te bedenken hoe mijn team er over een jaar uitziet. En hoe was de samenstelling van mijn team 1,5 jaar geleden?
