Nice one Cal, software engineers decompose by instinct. On the other hand, we should also be wary of abstracting too thinly.
Regarding the two day breakdown, I read an interesting post a little while back on ensuring all tasks are 1 day or less. The benefit that gives is that the only real tracking needed is to indicate whether the task had been picked up by the standup each day. Then, if it hadn't been completed by the next standup, there was an impediment - something has slowed that task down. Seemed like a good way of getting people to speak up on issues that they might otherwise not.
