The
PHP TestFest is a gathering by PHP enthusiasts that get together to write automated test cases for PHP. These test cases help prevent future incompatibilities and bugs in PHP. The event has grown global over the course of the years, with
user groups everywhere in the world participating.
Apart from reducing the workload of the PHP.net mentors, the event will also be an excellent chance to connect with other PHP developers in the community. And if your test cases do well, you might even gain commit access to the PHP project itself. For example, last year's best tester, Felix De Vliegher, became a member of the
PHP Quality Assurance Team as a result of his efforts during the event.
Ibuildings is supporting the TestFest initiative by sponsoring many of the major European TestFests - namely, those in
London,
Manchester,
The Netherlands and
Belgium. A more stable and well-tested code base benefits all PHP users and for a large part depends on volunteer efforts, such as TestFests. We would like to thank all volunteers contributing their time and knowledge to this project, and hope to see the initiative becoming even more popular in the future.
