A little over 2 years ago we started our company blog, mainly to share our experiences and show off cool stuff we were doing. By now, it has become the most popular area of our website, and looking back I can see we have had a nice mix of technical articles, case studies, reviews, conference reports and 'php in business' posts.
Today, we are moving another step forward. Last year we announced our PHP Centre of Expertise to promote the professional use of PHP. One of the first visible results of the PCE initiative is our new techPortal. On techPortal, we plan to bring you interesting in-depth articles on PHP and related subjects, written by Ibuildings developers. The first article published today is Getting started with Memcached by Lorna Mitchell.
Cal Evans, who runs our Centre of Expertise, will be the Editor in Chief of techPortal. I'd like to give a big thank you to him and his team for setting this up, and to Lorna for writing the first article. Great job! Now that we have techPortal, the Ibuildings Blog will still continue to exist. As technical articles will gradually move towards techPortal, the blog will gradually become more business and management oriented (case studies, trends, analysis of PHP usage in the field, whitepapers etc). This will help our readers to always find the right content for their needs. Feedback on techPortal is more than welcome. Share your comments here or send your feedback to techportal@ibuildings.com. Another idea / improvement:
Give the links of the rss feed a blank target. It's very annoying you leave the portal.....
Great site - very helpful - but I wanted to ask a question about Memcached on Lorna Mitchell's post and I can see how to add comment. We're considering Open Source Memcached vs Gear6 Memcached which has many advantages. Be great to know if anyone who has used both can give us feedback.
