Social Life
We do take our PHP very seriously, but it's not all work at Ibuildings. We're a social bunch, and like to organise a variety of events throughout the year.
Company Meetings
Once a quarter all our UK offices get together for a slightly more formal company meeting; presentations from the management team and project leads, staff updates, dinner and drinks. Your chance to ask those tough questions you've always wanted to ask.
Developer Evenings
Strictly for techies! Once a month, our technical teams meet to discuss current projects and challenges. Open mic for anyone wanting to practice a conference talk, or simply share a cool new technology they’ve been dabbling with.
BBQs and Socials
Did we mention we have a private garden in the middle of London? Our latest BBQ turned into a Fun Fair, with face painting, balloon artists and duck shooting with BB guns. We also organise pub quizzes, treasure hunts, and suchlike. And there’s always someone ready to enjoy a beer or two.
Enlightening Lunches
Learn something new (and possibly completely irrelevant) - every two weeks. This is an open arena for everyone in the company, whether it's work-related or not. For example, we've recently learnt about lasagne-making techniques, HR nightmares, debugging Magento, triathlon, company finances, and Unix tools.
Code Clubs
A code club is a space created for the developers to take part in deliberate practice. At work, you are usually trying to get something done - so in code clubs, we set aside time to practice doing things the ideal way (simply for the sake of becoming better at what we do). Different formats include Code Katas, Coding Dojos and Code Retreats.
