At Ibuildings we believe that professional development should be driven by the individual. So when you join us, you will be interviewed by a specialist, who will work with you to build your personal skills matrix. The matrix gives you a clear idea of what you're good at, and where you could improve.

Career Progression

Because each career path is personal, where you need to improve depends on where you want to get to. Not everyone wants to be a manager - we could also help you prepare for a life-long career in Software Engineering. We conduct yearly reviews to assist you in determining how successful you have been in your career progression that year, and we will make plans with you on what is required in terms of training or experience to help you achieve your goals.

Internal Training

Our internal training programme offers courses in PHP and related technologies (Zend Framework, Security, Performance, Object Oriented Design, Web Services, jQuery...). We also provide teachers' training courses for developers aspiring to become trainers themselves. (Fancy delivering training to some of our clients - like Sony, Newsquest or the BBC?)

Software engineers get 5 training days per year. Usually this will be a mix of internal training, self-study, and external courses.

Conferences

We organise the annual Dutch PHP Conference in Amsterdam - and all our staff are invited to attend. We also send developers to the PHP UK and PHP North West conferences, and selected international events. Software engineers are allowed 5 conference days per year.

Certifications

We expect all software engineers to become Zend Certified during their first 6 months of employment. We'll provide you with the study guide, the exam voucher, and time off for self-study. We also support developers who wish to become Zend Framework Certified or MySQL Certified.
